Tinariwen, Tuaregs of the Sahara, have produced one of the most vibrant rock sounds of the new millennium – a fusion of north African raga and chanting with Mississippi Delta guitar licks called “tishoumaren,” which combines traditional instrumentation and music with the roar of electric guitar fuzz.
